For 200 years, people tell KYSELAK’S story. He is widely admired for his ambitious tour in the Alps, climbing up to 3011 m, hiking alone for four months and rowing 200 km on the rivers Inn.
We present the most notable followers, successors, and subsequent travelers.

Even during his lifetime, there were imitators, and names like KYSELAK, CISSELAK, or Kieselack were seen all over Europe. What is authentic and written by Kyselak himself? We have been documenting this since 2006.

Even today, there are many copycats – from whom we clearly distance ourselves.

Every tip is taken into consideration – we measure the existing signatures and contextualize them.

2011

Anton Kiefer, born 1949 in Graz, studied Technical Mathematics at TU Graz, lives and works in St. Johann in Tirol. He practices photography with a passion and prefers to travel on foot for this purpose.”

Inspired by our 2009 Kyselak new edition, Kiefer was the first to retrace the entire route – in stages.

He visited our publisher at the time, JUNG & JUNG, with 1,000 photos:

“Kiefer brought an unusual series of photos that have nothing touristic about them and present the change in our view of land and people in a highly original way. This is reinforced once again in this book, as authors from Austria and neighboring countries have each chosen a photo and thus a place to which they have a special connection, and write about it. The result is a unique and very contemporary atlas of Austria.“

The Österreich-Atlas was published with 100 fotographs in 2014 and contains literary delicacies by:
