His name made him famous…
Joseph Kyselak (9.3.1798 – 17.9.1831)
Joseph Kyselak became famous during his lifetime because he left his name in large black letters – in many, in hundreds of places. He used his own logo for this – and was probably a true pioneer in this regard.
Even though it seems as if there have been tags since the beginning of writing itself, – from those taggers where we still have proof of their tags, KYSELAK was the first to become famous solely for tagging:
He wasn’t famous for his noble ancestry, not for his work, neither was he famous – even if he wished – for his journey or for his book. But KYSELAK was famous, incredibly famous, ONLY for his signatures.
Contemporaries recount the trouble this peculiar behavior caused him. Soon, numerous anecdotes arose about what might have motivated Kyselak: a desire for recognition, unrequited love, promoting his book… For 200 years, people have been asking about his motive, and to this day it remains a mystery.
